Another of Ghost Hunters great episodes. This time the location is the Stanley Hotel, which is the inspiration and filming location for Stephen Kings novel, and film, "The Shining". This episode ends up with a lot of creepy footage, and strange occurrences which will be hard to dismiss for anyone. This is also the season 2 finale. During the episode, pay close attention to rooms 401 and 1302, that is where the most excitement happens.
Season 02 - Episode 23 Case #1: Estes Park, CO - The Stanley Hotel Case Manager: Donna LaCroix Investigators: Hawes, Wilson, Gonsalves, Harnois, Dowaliby, Tango Complaint:
Built in 1909, with 138 rooms. MacGregor Room, cook hear a party in room when no one is in there. Manager and staff had figure appear between them while talking. Feeling of someone walking behind you. Lobby, books flying off shelf. Room 217, Stephen Kings room. "Mrs. Wilson" ghost unpacks luggage. Ghost children play on fourth floor. Third floor, kids play, Stephen King saw ghost children there. Red ball rolling up hallway. Room 401, the most haunted, closet area haunted, jewelry gone missing - apparition took ring, walked into closet. Room 412, couple stayed in room, guest screaming in middle of night, asking for help, said there was an energy in the hotel trying to possess her. Staff claims she was possessed, paramedics were called, no drugs or alcohol is system. Third floor, 1302, lamps were on floor, pictures fell off walls. All rooms on third floor, windows go up and down by themselves. Basement, homeless lady froze to death. Four teenage girls hear high pitch shriek, and tour guide says he don't know what it was, the girls ran from the hotel. TAPS Events:
Jason and Grant investigate the MacGregor room with the thermal camera. They catch what looks like something moving on the right side as they pan over towards a wooden door. Lisa and Dave investigate Room 418 to investigate children ghosts playing in room, they try to record some EVP sounds. They ask if the child can roll a ball across the floor. Steve and Brian investigate Room 412, they do some EVP work in the room. Steve is lying on the bed, Brian is sitting on a chair, Steve begins to feel the bed moving, Brian sees something move by Steve's arm, Steve takes a look around, and sees a black shadow moving along the floor beside him. Jason and Grant investigate the Basement with the thermal camera, they both hear a knocking sound, while looking around, they hear it three more times. Steve and Brian are in Room 217, Stephen Kings room, and do some EVP work. End of the first night, Jason is in Room 401 sleeping with a camera on him. The sound of a latch can be clearly heard, followed by the sound of a small piece of glass falling onto a hard surface, which wakes Jason. He gets up and grabs the camera, he starts saying he heard the closet open, the door is open, and his glass that was on the table next to his bed, a tiny piece of glass fells out onto the table, as if a finger sized hole was poked in the side of it. He goes back to sleep. He awakes again, walking to the camera, and stating to the team to review the camcorder, because now he is hearing banging noises coming from the closet. Night 2: Brian sets up a MiniDV camera in Room 1302 to try and catch the reported activity. While setting up the camera, he hears a man's voice, he looks around, and no one is near his location. He hears the voice again. Jason and Grant investigate Room 412 to try and debunk the headboard shaking. They notice that the headboard is very loose, and every time the wind blew, the whole bed and headboard would shake. They then move to the Concert Hall to investigate the reports of a ghost of the homeless lady that dies in there. They have the thermal camera running, and they both hear the noise of running water. Steve and Brian investigate the MacGregor Room. Steve picks up a pocket of energy that reads 12.7 on the EMF detector, then then lay the detector on the floor and receive a 53.8 reading, they investigate the basement, and find the electrical room for the hotel. They then do some EVP work, and ask for a knock, or a sign of their presence, then then hear a sound like a door opening, they investigate the sound, and there are no people around. Grant, Lisa, and Dave team up and investigate the MacGregor Room. Jason and Brian investigate the Concert Hall together, they hear a screeching noise coming from the door after it was closed. Grant, Lisa, and Dave go into Room 1302, and Dave begins to get the feeling of being watched, he then asks that the ghost makes it's presence known. Grant begins to change a tape in his MiniDV recorder, and asks the production camera man, Kendall Whelpton, if he could use the light from his camera to assist Grant in seeing to make the tape change. As Grant is changing the tape, the table pushes out, and a chair slides back, the camera man lets out a scream from being startled. You can see on Kendall's camera, the table forcefully come out towards him, and Grant's legs do not appear to move. The camera is at a bad angle because he was assisting Grant using the light from the camera's LCD display. Dave and Lisa were in the room, they did not see it, but they heard the chair slam against the wall with a lot of force, and the table sliding out. Jason and Brian enter the room, and Brian mentions that the table area is where he heard the man's voice coming from.
