TAPS Visit Author Edith Wharton's Mansion
The team try out some new equipment in this episode, including a "Black-Box", which is an Audible EMF (AEMF) detector, and a GeoPhone, which senses very slight vibrations. Both of the devices were brought along by Britt Griffith.
During the investigation, there are numerous instances that you can clearly hear footsteps walking around - at one point even right in front of Jason and Grant.
Season 05 - Episode 03
Case #1: Lenox, MA - The Mount
Case Manager: Kris Williams
Investigators: Hawes, Wilson, Gonsalves, Tango, Williams, Gartland, Griffith
Complaint: Built in 1901 - 1902, first owned by author Edith Wharton, then sold in 1911 to private owners. Eventually, the building became a Theater, then an all-girl school. Now it is a tourist attraction.
Mansion Cupola, apparition in top-hat saying, "what is all this commotion?"
Butler's Pantry, sounds screaming and choking woman. Bedroom Floor, sound of girls playing outside. Husband's Dressing Room, apparition of woman reading to husband. Attic, sound of walking up and down hall, and doors opening.
Stable, Figures crouching and watching workers. Cottage, footsteps coming down hall, then stopping.
TAPS Events: Jason and Grant investigate the Dining Room on the Third Floor of the main mansion with the thermal camera. They catch a large hand-print on the wall. The hand-print measures about 10 inches in length, and is still very hot.
Gartland and Griffith investigate the Office in the Cottage building, and try some EVP work. They immediately hear the voice of someone calling out for help. They trace the sound to a computer server tape backup system, and the sound is debunked.
Kris and Amy investigate the Mansion in the Attic Bedroom, and try some EVP work, Amy feels a tap on the back of her head, as if a hand had touched her. Kris asks for the same thing, but does not get the same result.
Jason and Grant investigate the Fox Hollow Room in the Mansion with the K-II meter. They get wild readings while placing the meter on the seat cushion, but when moved anywhere else, the reading is dead. After a few short minutes, there is no reading being picked up on the seat cushion anymore either.
Steve and Tango investigate the Butler's Pantry with the EMF detector. They find a very high reading coming from an electrical box in the area, and assume that most paranormal feelings are being caused by the electrical box.
Amy and Britt investigate the Mansion Attic Bedroom where Amy had felt her head touched before. Bruni asks for the entity to come close to the AEMF detector, and after a few attempts, they finally get a noise that emits from the detector. They both then experience sounds coming from down the hall, then when they go to investigate, they hear the footsteps running away, but see nothing.
Steve and Dave investigate the Stable area, and they begin hearing a banging noise. Steve believes it is tree branches, or snow falling from tree branches, but it turns out there is nothing in the outside area of the building that is anything like that, or could cause such a noise.
Jason, Grant, and Britt investigate the Second Floor of the Stable Area, and begin by placing the K-II on a table. Jason then sees a head peer around the corner of a doorway, disappear, then reappear again. They all hear continuous noises as well. They leave the Geophone on the floor with a camcorder pointed at it.
Steve and Tango investigate the Mansion Dining Room. They begin to provoke, then try harder by making a lot of noise and banging on things to maybe anger the entity. As they are about to give up and leave, a door opens up right on camera. Steve goes outside, and very gently touches the door - the doors opens, so they attribute the opening to wind.
Debunked: Strange feelings - high EMF.
Voices - house is full of people, and actors.
Door opening - wind.
Findings: Banging - in the Stable, after Jason and Grant leave the Geophone on the ground and leave, there is a loud baning noise, and the Geophone begins to go off.
Audio - of footsteps in various places.
Thermal - of hand-print on wall, about 10 inches big.
Result: A residual haunting.
Skeptical View: Banging - wind.
Audio - wind.
Thermal - they another person must have leaned on the wall and forgot.
